Sarah Adams Update

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 28, 2008

Rolland and I were delighted to visit with Chris and Sarah Adams yesterday night. They have a beautiful family and I was shocked to find their 3 year old daughter, Aivry, riding her bike with no training wheels. Apparently she has been able to do so since she was 2 1/2. Ethan, who is 7, was riding his skateboard up a ramp and is pretty advanced for his age.

Sarah is doing well and just dealing with coming off of the painkillers now. She wanted to thank all who helped provide meals for the family during her recovery.

I am “Official”

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 27, 2008

I was “ordained” on May 11th and here is a picture of the elders praying over me. Please read a post I placed on my personal blog, linked at: http://endued.wordpress.com/2008/05/27/ordained-into-pastoral-ministry/

I reflect on the significance of the “laying on of hands” and my thoughts on pastoral ministry in Sovereign Grace. A love in my heart for the people of Sovereign Grace has already been stirring and I look forward to a lifetime of service to the wonderful people of this church.

Recap of Youth BBQ at Cooper Home

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 20, 2008

Sorry I have no pics from the youth BBQ this past Sunday 5/18 at the Cooper home. It went well. We walked down to the lake and went swimming with the millions of others trying to cool down from the hot weather. We came back to the Cooper’s and grubbed on burgers and dogs. Some even went into the hot tub…to cool off.

Anyhow, it was lots of fun and I will try to post pictures from now on of future youth events.

First to see Prince Caspian!!!

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 17, 2008

I decided to take Cody to the midnight showing of Prince Caspian and we were joined by Tyler and Kiel Johnson, along with Ben Provolt.

As for the movie…C.S. Lewis would be proud. It was better than the first installment…in my humble opinion. I hope it does well in the box office.

Hogaboam Home in New York now “Pending”

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 17, 2008

We have received a satisfactory offer on our home in New York and it is now in the hands of what my real estate agent says of about 40 people. Please pray that everything proceeds favorably for all parties involved. It was sad leaving our home after putting so much sweat and tears into it, not to mention the many birthday parties and social gatherings that we hosted with beloved friends. It has been the only home Lexi has known and for the most part, Kira as well. It was also the first house Mimi and I had ever lived in and we wish the happiness shared in this home to the new buyers.

Thanks for your prayers and continued prayers!!!

Mimi’s finger was treated and she is on some medication. It is apparently healing, but looking pretty shriveled.

Happy B-Day Vaughn!!!

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 16, 2008

Vaughn Schuler turned ??? on Wednesday. He also had an MRI on his aching shoulder on Friday and it turns out that there are no problems other than some normal wear and tear. I guess birthdays have a way of doing that…ha ha ha.

Praising God for Terry Provolt

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 13, 2008

Terry had cancer surgery last week and was at church this past Sunday, much to my surprise. I praise God that all of his cancer has been removed and that he has recovered so quickly that even the doctor expressed surprise.

Getting Settled

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 13, 2008

I am still at work in getting settled here in Nampa. I have loved it thus far. I am trying to get my office functional and orderly…which has been a huge task.

Please pray for our kids as they have experienced some longings for New York. It has been difficult trying to convey to them that we have moved.

Please also pray for our house in New York that is currently for sale. Once it is sold, we will then begin our search for a new home in the Nampa area :) Hope it’s sooner than later.

Posted by Rick Hogaboam on May 13, 2008

I had the chance to visit Sarah Adams today at St. Alphonsus and she was very tired and sore. Continue to pray for her. She will also find out tomorrow or Thursday on whether they got all of the cancer. Will keep you posted as news comes in.
